11.6 Kms of National Oil Seed Project Launched in Mbale District

Eastern Uganda, Community & Business The government of Uganda through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Local Government has commercialized communties through road network, the National Oil seeds Project (NOSP) is funded with a loan by the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) and the Opec Fund for International Development (IFID). Mbale district recieved the IFAD laon amounting to 1.8 billion shillings to enable access for oil seed farmers into market from Bungokho-Bumbobi sub counties. During the Launch, the district engineer, Nasimolo Robert expressed gratitude to IFAD for  including Mbale district in the region and the two sub counties in particular. Mbale District local government celebrates 62 years of independence reflecting on the achievements across all interventions.  Administrative Block Of Mbale District. The district started in 1950 as Bugisu /Bukedi district. In 1960 before independence in 1962, Bukedi became an independent district. Bugisu district composed of Bugisu area and Sebei. In 1966, sebei district was granted following tribal clashes between the Bamasaaba tribe and the Sabiny tribe. The Historical Lukhobo Building in 1956  Apparently, several districts have emerged from the original Mbale. On the east, Sironko, Bulambuli, Kapchorwa, kween-Bukwo and on the west, Manafwa, Bududa, Namisidwa, in total over six districts have been created after the original mbale district.
