cluster of health workers from facilities working closely with albinos on suncare services had a training on skin cancer prevention for persons with albinism. The trainees included Medical doctors, clinical officers, district health educators, nurses and VHTs in Sebei and Bugisu bugisu region. Over 400 people living with albinism in the nine districts of Sebei and Bugisu region are vulnerable and exposed to sun damage on their skins. One of the core objectives is to empower and build the capacity to health workers on skin cancer preventive techniques on persons with albinism, and to conduct preventive quarterly clinics in their health centers. Mbale District  Namukowa Bernard(AO) After the inception of this project  in 2020, during the tenure of 4 years,the national agriculture research organisation(NARO/NACORI) with partnership from the International institute of tropical agriculture(IITA),has today marked  the end of this project in Mbale district with a lot of successful stories from beneficiary farmers,and extension workers after a long intervention  highlighting resilient and adaptive agricultural livelihoods in the district. International Albinism Awareness Day seeks to amplify the voices and visibility of persons with albinism in all areas of life.   Press release @ St. Andrews Cathedral  As the eastern region Albinism cluster prepares to hold its celebrations on 27th next week, this year's theme highlights the urgent need to prevent skin cancer in persons with albinism through awareness, screenings, and sunscreen access.
